His "Lady in Black" has admirable feeling and construction and is done in a big strong impressive and verile manner. She is a symphony in subtle dark tones, and is a good example to show that painted statement of the vision need not necessarily have a positive color value. In closing we would like to leave the thought with you that the finish of a canvas is not important. As has been stated before technique is over emphasized. We will remember that the "old masters" are beautifully and skillfully rendered, but they do lack content and expression. The modern artist, is achieving this freedom and ease of expression in a remarkable degree.
