There was no heeding the sand that trickled the minutes of the hour, the hour of the day, the day of the month or even the day of the year. It was only later when I was forced to be time-conscious that I made a real effort to be cognizant of the fleeting hours. One can't have a stomach without being reminded that food and medication interludes do roll around. Unfortunately all this disregard and giving no heed to time has changed and now there is no forgetting, even should I like to do so. I am not premitted to neglect my stomach. Unfortunately this is not a mere habit, but remembering is due to little mice and such with big teeth that bite holes in the stomach; and the little devils that nag and vex and torture the digestive tract.
