The Interest still goes on the same. I will take as much interest in it for you, as though it was my own. - I am going to file a Bill in Court to have my Part of the Howard place set off with a view to improvement. of course I will continue the [illegible] of it all until it it will be settled up. Wincup bought the Cross Place & borroued the money from Cyrus Mc Farling to pay me off, and did pay me 900$ and I sold 500$ worth of cattle this fall. I have loand out part of the money and put the rest in Bank at Ottumwa. Well George we have had a very bad wet fall, most of the corn is not gatherd yet, the price of corn is 30 & 35 cents per Bu. fat hogs 3.25 & 3.50 and a great many on the markett. you mention that you have got a situation as messenger at 125 per mo after paying your Board and other ex how much can you clear.- In that business it requires a great deal of Promptness and strict Integrety to commend one, to our Imployers. I have often thought of Tom Potter of Ottumwa, who is now in the Imploy of the 6.B. & 2 R.R. he rose upon his own merrits, they pay him now 6000$ a year 500$ a month,- well I must mention the death of Poor Gim Gastinghouse, he died one week ago last night, the County has been supporting his family for some time, the Boman & Gastinghouse familis have about plaid out. I must conclude as my Paper is about full. By the way Tom Baird has been Playing off, he came down they had quite a overhauling. I kept out of the ring, say nothing, write often from you father &c S.
