Home, May 11th 1879 Well John I rec'd your Card a few days ago. Glad to hear thing are looking so well with you. We are haveing it very dry & if it does not rain soon small grain & meadows will be considerably damaged ground is very cloddy. Most of the corn will be in next week have 50 acres in & 40 to plant. Times are very close and money hard to get unless a man borrows of those Eastern money loaners they seem to have plenty. Collections hard to make. I have done very well on your notes Hartzler paid of you land date in Bloomf'd Feb 4 79 & by the 6 inst I had paid of every debt you owed that I was authorised to pay I will give you a statement of receipts & disbursements as taken from my books on an other sheets enclosed
