"Shalom" Los Angeles Cal. Sept 29th 1921 Dear Hugh & Effie I rec'd in due time Effie's letter and glad to hear from you and learn more particularly of the last hours of my Brother John. He was a good man and has entered upon a rich remain. His angel that he spoke of seeing perhaps was his wife. How well I remember when he was married and brought his wife home to our house. Emily Wilson, She was a handsome woman and we were all proud of her and she was a good wife and mother until the trouble that never left her fastened on to her, and darkened the latter part of her life. It would be just like the Lord to let her be the first one to greet him as he passed into the unseen holy. "Since the beginning of the world men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen O God besides thee what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him." Your Father was waiting for the Lord and the words of this passage from an idea of the great stay that was awaiting him and into which he has now entered, and which will await us if
