Jan. 16 - '39 The Cary Club met Jan. 16, at the home of Mrs. E.V. Carey, with the president Mrs. Cecil Segev presiding. Ten members answered to roll call with quotations from Edgar Allen Poe. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. A card was read from Mr. and Mrs. O.G. Waffles. The following bills were allowed: for candy 30¢; card 26¢ and flowers $1.58 Total $2.09 Mrs. L.M. Phelps had the lesson on the life and works of Edgar Allen Poe. Poe was born Jan.19-1809 at Boston, Mass. and died at the age of forty yrs. Mrs. Phelps read "The Bells" and "Lenon" and a short story "The Black Cat". Current events were discussed by the members and club was adjourned to meet with Mrs. J.A. Beesow Feb. 6th. Maria Woodward,
