House of Representatives April 18th 1838 Sir- I have the honor to inclose you the within recommendation in fav. of Mr. John M. Davis, for a Midshipman's Warrant & respectfully to ask for his appointment. The gentlemen, who recommend Mr. Davis to me, are all men of great respectability.
