Dubuque Sept 29th 1854 My dear Sir, The inclosed Comt was written by my colleagues & my own true friend Rev Henry Clay Dean of West Point in Lee Co of this State. He desires its publication in the Union & as I believe it will do good to my colleague I hope you will insert it in the Union & send a few numbers to Mr Dean. He will exert himself (& he will have much influence) to prevent an election of Senator next winter. If this is the only hope left us can be done. I shall have no fear
