I plead with the President Member of the Cabinet & all Southern Member of Congress in behalf of our R Road bill as the only means of securing the re-election of Gen Dodge when the whigs & abolitionists termed the dough-face of the South which in return would do nothing for Iowa in the way of Rail Road grants. I begged Hamlin, Mason, Fitzpatrick Clay Jones of Tenn, Dawson of Penn & fifty others
