to let our Iowa RR bill pass as the only means of carrying the election in Iowa & if restoring Gen. A Dodge to the Senate I now feel as tho' I ought never to give another vote for the south or certainly that I should never be willing to do anything for such men as Letcher, Hunter, Butler Jones of Tenn of this House & men like them who killed off our RR bills after having permitted those for Illinois, Ky, Ten & Alabama ([the ole central?]) Missouri & Arkansas to pass, making similar grants.
