Mrs Pierce urged greater co-operation and the service of a stenographer in headquarters. Mrs Passig added that she had been in rather close touch with Mrs Pierce all year and I know that Mrs Pierce has put hours and hours of work in for the League at the office. At one of the Board meetings it was rather amusing. Mrs Pierce said she would be at the office all the time, but would like Thursday P.M. off from 4 to 6. Mrs Pierce has put hours & hours of service and lots of money into the League for running expenses. Announcement of an auto ride as a courtesy to all delegates and visitors and banquet at 6:30 at the Fort Des Moines Hotel. Miss Dunlap moved we adjourn. Seconded and carried. Thursday evening meeting October 12 at 6:30 for banquet at the Fort Des Moines Hotel and instead of the formal toast program, the delegates and visitors adjourned to the Convention Hall and heard an inspiring and instructive talk by Mr Millard on Government Efficiency and the way to secure it. Mr. Millard, representing the Proportional Representation, gave an inspiring talk on Government Efficiency. He said that we all must use the comparative methods; that we must set up national standards; that we have that we have no standards for the county. He referred to the book on the "county by H. S. Gilbertson
