Friday June - 1923. At 10 o'clock the Board of the Iowa League of Women Voters met in regular business session at the call of the President Mrs I.H. Tomlinson, who presided with the following members present. Mrs I.H. Tomlinson - Pres. Mrs Oscar Ruff - v ". Mrs Ella Mc Kim - Chairman of Efficiency in Government. Mrs Fred Hunter - " of International Co-operation to Prevent War. Mrs W.W. Littell - 7th District chairmen. Mrs Clarence Knutson - Recording Secretary. The President introduced Mrs Lewis Rose of Hartford, State President of Conn., who gave a splendid talk on the work of the Connecticut League of Women Voters. Among many other interesting things, Mrs Rose said" The the Connecticut State Office are five paid workers having a budget of $16,000. One phase of the work is to maintain a State Citizenship Department maintaining speakers who see their lectures to all sorts of groups. They pay from 60 cts to $5. per capita. Under Efficiency in Government, topics were suggested as follows. 1. City laws affecting women and children and to find out if they are enforced. 2. Study of taxes. As Vice-chairman on Miss Morgan's Committee on International Co-operation to Prevent War." Mrs Rose said the National Program was to promote the plan of a World Court and outlawing of war, making a study of the League of Nations.
