208 Aurora Iowa March 5, 1928 My dear Mrs Knutson- One of your friends suggested that I ask you to mail me a program of the convention of the Iowa League of Women Voters held in Iowa City soon. I have been interested in politics and after the solicitation of friends from all parts of the county I have decided to be a candidate for state representatives. Any suggestions or [Typewritten clipping pasted alongside long-hand letter]: After repeated solicitations from friends in all parts of the county Mrs. Belle Miller has consented to be a candidate for the nomination of county representative. It will be remembered that Mrs. Miller received the largest number of votes in eight townships out of the sixteen in a three-cornered race in the June Primary in 1926, and we understand she received the largest number of votes in the city of Independence ever cast for a non-resident when one of their residents was a candidate for this office in a three corner race. Mrs. Miller received second highest number of votes this year. Mrs. Miller believes that agriculture should have justice, fair-play and equality with other groups of society and approves of our direct primary system of voting which is the weapon of the common people and is going to need future defense as perhaps never before. Mrs. Miller has ben a county committee woman and welfare worker for many years. [added in longhand] Taught school before her marriage
