(4) mation of cases and persons by termination [2ndly?] the resem-blance of words as υλη χιστα cistas, σακος saceus ve Σκανδαλον is properly that piece of wood in a pit for wild beasts, who when trodden on by them, precipitated them into the pit for σχαζω "to trip" or (as some say) the bait of a mouse trap because it stops the mouse. The English bishop & the French eveque (anciently biscop & evesque the first being taken from the last part of the Greek word the latter from the former part) are both derived from the Greek επισκοπος. Church derived from κυριου οικος contracted into Kyrioik.
