Fairfield Iowa Jany 16th /69 My Dear Little Wife Here I go for home - heh! or rather to Eliza's I will got to Aurora, & may bi to Eliza's to night or rather early in the morning oh I wish you was there I want to see you so bad, think you had best come instanter, & if we think best we can stop at Mary's on our way home & stay as long as we wish - if you don't come at once with me to Batavia but of course you will come on the [wings?] of the "wind" no, train. I'm dying most to see you will hurry up, your [illegible] how & don't stop to sleep until you are [swinging?] down by your own old hub, ach! won't dem be nice times, "Booky" but its train time & this must be off - Your aff Hus.
