Algona, Iowa, March 18, 1875 Dear wife and Nettie - I have delayed writing 4 or 5 days waiting for mails. Thinking too that I would get answer to my letter advising you to let Nettie stay and you go on & visit [illegible] & get home about 1st Apr. I think it the better plan for reasons too numerous to mention here. Of which too you ought to understand. I was not a little surprised that you should have consented to remain on the plan suggested by ? without a little more consideration under the circumstances. The ... condition of this country is such that business must of necessity be very dull & I don't expect to any more than make a living this year and having so much out too, makes my debts weigh on me like a mountain, but notwithstanding all that. I deem it my first duty to exhaust my last dollar if necessary to restore the health of "our darling and then at some future time when the country was again on its legs you could avail yourself of a thorough treatment much better than at present. Its always better to comit well "your Host" before going into "battle". Its quite unnecessary for me
