May, 1906. Sun. 13. Warm rain in night, first of the season & showery all day - at mtg. morn & evg. Mon. 14. Quite warm & showery, Mrs. Wedgwood-Angier died last night at Castalia. C in part of time & she & I making arrangements for funeral. DeSoto Plums full bloom. rain in night. Tues. 15. Fairish, warm morn, & threatening but no rain to-day. Mrs. Angier's body came on 4:30 train accompanied by Mr. Gibbs of Castalia & Hattie Clyde Funeral from the church right after. Wed. 16. Rained a good deal in night. Very warm day, over 80, probably 85° nearly 90° with S.W. wind. Fair threatening. - Mr. Gibbs went on noon train. - Severe headache in eyes all day left eye chiefly. Thurs. 17. Warm fair morn., S.W. wind, 85° again to-day, with th. showers in the distance & much cooler Evg. N.W. - C. in P.M. & I out after 4. Potted 9 chrys'mums & set out Geraniums, & planted flower seeds. Hattie Clyde went home by morn. train. Fri. 18. Quite cool, fair morn. Windy day & only 72°. Planted Beans. - C. not in office - Garden Evg. Schroda mowed & Pwed. Sat. 19. A light frost in lowlands. - At home till after 11 am Spraying 2nd time, thorough, bordeaux & arsenic - Cold & fair, mer 60° max & down to 45° before dark - prospect of frost - Entwisle spaded old her yard I planted Musk melons & peas & corn, therein. 106+ lbs.
