April, 1918 Sun. 7 West Wind; 35° to 40° Alone to church morn - Rev. [K-illegible] man's "twin", William short sermon & evg. made indiscreet remark about Irish loyalty in Canada. - none of us out. Mon. 8 27° to 43° fair. North. Piling wood morn. & Evg. Office as usual Tues. 9 Clear, East to SE 23° to 50° at Funeral of Mrs Addie Bartlett 10 a.m. - 11 boys off for mechanics training 11:10 train. - Abstracting balance of time - Piling wood morn. & evg. Mob threatened Kingman Wed. 10 23° again, clear. N.E. 50° Finished getting in the wood morn. - Office mostly; and head-ache all day. Thurs. 11 26° N.W. clear; 54° N.E. Headache wearing off Called on Lathrop at Funeral 9 a.m. of Pat. Keenan 29, died of pneumonia at Camp Dodge. [left?] from [Wankon?] Fri. 12 32° to near 60°; clear, NE & S.E. Sharp frost Abstracting a.m. & typing some P.M. - Planted Peas evg. Sat.13 33° frosty; 61° S.E. cleaer wind. Burned brush morn. Office most of time. Planted Onions & raked off asparagus.
