January, THURSDAY, 7, 1864. arose at 1/2 past 6 fed hauled wood & fodder loaded up [food?] lumber in evening cold weather Sarah & Huldy Smoots came up to day Will stay all [nite?] FRIDAY, 8. arose about 6 fed went to town with lumber got home at 1/2 past 2 fed. took Sade Smoots home [slept shall pin?] at Tom Mcnultys stoped at uncle John's granma has a bad cold cold SATURDAY, 9. arose at 7 fed horses fixed gloves fore noon hauled wood, hay & fodder after. Father & I [resoled?] the sled. Janah & Mary started for vernon last nite Stay all nite at [hommes?] thawed a little to day
