Sunday January 5 A beautiful day, but we here at George's made it short by late rising, Mer not much below zero in morn, & rose to 10°+ at noon. My cold prevented any getting out to church with Rose & Geo. But while they were out to sing in P.M. I commenced letter to Charlotte finishing it while they were out sometime in eve. Over home in A.M. awhile. January 6 Bright & Mer 11°- at sunrise, rising to 15°+ during day but strong south wind. (illegible) seem cold & unpleasant all day & evening. Over home both A.M. & P.M., as usual, cold seems somewhat better. Geo- & Rose both spent eve "at home" with me, playing "verbarium" a game we have been playing considerabe lately
