Ellery at home this eve. May 4 Sunday Clear & bright in morning but wind rose & blew very hard all day, but I ventured out to B_ Church with Ellery in a.m. sky appeared to be covered with clouds of dust all P.M. & tho' had some rain last night was dusty this P.M. I spent part of P.M. reading & wrote some both P.M., & in eve, in reply to letter from Aunt Angiolina came last eve, Geo_ in little while in P.M. May 5 Quite cool, but not quite as windy as yesterday. Tho' wind blowing some most of the day Tho' we had hardly dared to hope it, Mr Taylor come up 8 o,c, to whitewash kitchen, two front rooms, & my room, after which Lena cleaned the floors, again, I worked mending the carpets in A.M. helped Lena put down bed room carpet. Ellery up to help put down S_room carpet [illegible]
