"Decoration day" May 30 Friday Woke to find it bright & clear (tho windy) after more rain in night. All well as usual, & preparing, in good season, to spend most of A.M. at cemetery. May Stewart, Rose & self, with George for dinner (he not being able to march with "Militia", having had cold, rode to cemetery in procession to see The Soldiers graves decorated, listen to oration by A. G. Stewart Music, &c all excellent & passing off very quietly & well, tho' very muddy in storm. May 31 Raining again this morning quite cool, I found rain had come in so as to wet thro' & some things in flannel chest, which of course made me extra work & kept busy at little jobs all day. "Anna" doing most of work in kitchen "Lena" showing her & at work for self & here & there, till she started for home last of P.M. Anna to take her place here for couple weeks.
