July 15 - Tuesday Not quite as pleasant overhead but about as warm Mer reaching 90°+ Being "wash-day" I had extra chores to do. picked "string beans" & currants for dinner. Lena through with washing so as to get most of dinner, After resting & doing some chores in P.M. I was visiting with Mrs Hanscom at Rose's also spent eve there, Ellery out rehearsing the "Union Scouts" every evening July 16 Bright & clear & cooler, Mer only 80°+ during the day, feeling quite well & having no fruit to put up I had my bed taken apart & feather bed out to air, & busy at little jobs through the day. Lena ironing, I cut apples fallen from out "Duchess" tree for sauce first time, Busy part of P.M. making white tie for "Southern Gentleman." In with Rose most of eve.
