Mer 85°+ highest for some time Wednesday August 20 Cloudy with little sunshine & few thunder showers thro' the day. "Emily" with Lena all night & helped her cut apples this morning, L_ having boil on her right shoulder so couldn't iron, we made three qts apple marmalade, (besides letting Rose have 1 qt of same before sweetening) & she did some cooking. I spent last half of P.M. & some of eve, cross-stitching. August 21 Pleasant, tho' looking some like showers in eve, & very warm again to day. Of course had chores to keep me busy, besides going down to Maz's for (pon?) C-apples, also in to Mrs Howes for same, being quite tired took a nap in P.M. Then helped her prepare C-apples for work tomorrow. Charlotte in awhile & we went to B_ Nite Society. I was in to Mrs. H_s & Geo in eve.
