July, 1900. Sun. 29. Beautiful day, [v?] coolish, [illegible] [Al ch mom v Eng?] - Froze cream Mon. 30. Fine day. Quite warm. Started for Repub. state convention at Des Moines, noon. Left [Dubuque?] 8:30 Tues. 31. Ar. Des M. about 5. Fine day but extremely warm. Larson + I [will?] over the Capitol + out University Place [BK.F.?] [illegible] of [Saucry?]; then to [Kirkwood?] for room. Wed. 1. August. Hot day, but fine. Attending Convention. Started home 9:40 [Eng?]. Saw Jeff Clyde. (Small shower at home) Thurs. 2. Again hot + fair. Got home 11:50. - Office P. M. 92° Fri. 3. [Class?] + hot, about as yesterday. Moved [Eng?]. Sat. 4. Fair + hot. Over 90°. Rev. Stewart + wife + Mrs. [illegible]. [Moved?] [Eng?].
