Which Cause the cords of my heart to vibrate as I never dreamed they would. Clara, I know all about the ominpotence of love, and I have also learned that "true love is a chain that binds for ever." Ask not if still I love, Too plain these eyes have told thee; Too well their tears must prove How near and dear I hold thee. You seem to accuse me of having changed in my feelings towards you. Well I have changed a good deal, but the change has been like a true Isrealite&'s "groath in grace." But you say I "feel in honor bound to maintain my position, now you have said so much." Well, of course, I should feel so. But that is not the only reason which induces me maintain it. God bless you, there is an other principle, yet more high and noble, and far more glorious than the one you mention, (though that is a jewel) which, superadded to honor, and based upon it, binds me to maintain my position.
