Bloomfield Iowa April 7th 1858. Dear Clara:- When your letter came to the office I was not in Town. On my return home, which was about 9 oclk last evening, it was handed me. I had been out to the north part of the county on business where I was engaged all day in the trial of a tedious cause, I assure you your letter was a very welcome one. You, perhaps, have no idea how much pleasure such a letter, coming from the person it did, brings to me, especially when my mind has been engaged in vexatious litigation for sometime previous to its reception. Clara, you have made me happy. God bless you. possessed of pure religion, blessed with health, and enshrined
