that is beautiful & true, & if every person would make an effort, - & what a pleasant & easy one it would be, - to make those dearest to them happy or rather those dependent on them for happiness, this would be a still more beautiful & pleasant world. But when I see those who have tender sensibility, & whose nature it is to rely upon others for happiness, turned rudely away, or perhaps neglected entirely, I feel inclined to doubt there being any true hearts in the world. What utter wretchedness to be neglected by those we love best, & from whom we have a right to expect every attention. May our Heavenly father help us to act toward each other, not only from feeling & impulse but from principle. Well if you are to get this letter this evening I must quit writing for this time as it will rain soon & then I shall not get it to the
