Keosauqua Iowa April 16/58 My Dear Friend Your letter came today & rather than disappoint you I write immediately. Now do give me credit for being real kind wont you? Well I would give a great deal if I could write you just such a letter as you would like, but I can not, One full of real sensibility & feeling. But I feel so differently from you that I know my letters seem very cold & formal. I am still & undemonstrative, while you are all buoyancy & demonstrative.
