Nashville Army Air Center (A.A.F.C.C.) Thompson Lane, Nashville, Tenn. Jan 24, 1943 Dearest: How can we ever live down the terrible disgrace you have brought upon us? How can we ever face the world again? Picked up in a police raid... how awful! Still, I will not desert you in this terrible perdicament. I love you enough to stand by you through this thing. Noble, ain't I? Uh, by the way, is there any of the whipped cream left? I'm very fond of it, too. x x x The way you love cats, its obvious we'll have to own one. I can't say that I had any attitude toward them before; but since you like them, I know I will, too. x x x That man Curtis must be a very stupid egotist to change your work. ... and that greatest crime
