Sunday a.m. 7 March 1943 Dearest: I saw Hirst Mendenhall last Friday night. I got a letter from him telling me just where he was. It is almost impossible to locate a man from his mail address. He is graduating today as a Bombardier. As you suggested I would, I found him a very likeable chap. He's very talkative and interestingly so. Later I am afraid there won't be a long letter from me this week end. We were ordered to fall out and we stood in ranks for about two hours. Then we marched out to the airfield and escorted a Chinese General (2 star) from his plane on an inspection tour of
