Tuesday night 22 June 1943 Dearest: I am returning the "Tryout" Smith letters and admit I can't read them. Were they important? Or can't you read them either? I have been re-reading #132...The letter in which you took down you hair and shook it out a bit. I guess I've told you I am not thrilling. You will find me, I am sure, kindly, considerate, generally good-natured but thrilling? I doubt it! Only once in a while perhaps. Actually honey, what marriage stays Thrilling long? None. Think a moment of others you love. You do not love them because they thrill you but for other more enduring and endearing qualities. Thrills are only momentary; if the thrill is long-lasting it ceases to be a Thrill. Ours shall be fleeting enough to remain thrills
