I did not know what I ought to do with regard to to your house and lot, but when I found it advertised the second time and that it would be sold unless something was done I thought best to stop the sale. There was another party interested and application was made to injoin the sale and accordingly it was not sold and the question will be tried if Allen had a right to sell it. I don't know if that was the best thing to be done or not. I had to go on a bond for a ($1000.00) thousand dollars for (cost?) and [tomorrow?] some [illegible] but I think it will be all right in the end. Perhaps I took a good deal of responsability but I didn't want to see Allen get hold of the property. Taxes are very high here and it seems that the (expenses) of the property you have in Iowa take all the rent and I don't know yet if there is any over or enough to pay expenses. I will settle with Mr. Foster sometime of the middle of this month, when the year is out that we rented it for. I have raised the rent to 16.$ but don't know yet if Mr. [Cross] will remain he will let me know in a few days. After I settle with Mr Foster I will send you a statement of the facts. If the suit should go against me
