the regiment is full. and it will be filled up immediately now. for the 2nd Cavelry brought in about 1000 Darkeys with them yesterday here we have a fine place to bathe in wolf river about 2 miles from camp on the other side of town. Holmes is detailed on a court martial at Corinth so I am left in Comd. of the Company. that order of Gen. Roberts will not affect Billy atall the court sentenced him to be publickly repromanded by the Col. before the regiment. but Gen Roberts disapproved of the sentence and sentenced a heavyer punishment. to be reduced to the ranks, which he had not the right to do. then as Billy was not in his department nor strictly on duty they had nothing to do with him. I am well yours &c, Geo. F. Hall Wm Hutchinson is gowing up there in a fiew days on a furlough. G.F.H.
