Not a Ghost Langworthy, Jones Co. Iowa Feby 10th, 1863, Gov. S. J. Kirkwood Iowa City, Iowa (Dfr?) Sometime about the 20th Sept. being a candidate for Surgeon in the Army, I handed you a Certificate of qualification at the Burtis House Davenport, the same day I was elected one of the delegates to go to Corinth with sanatary goods to releive Iowa Soldiers. Since that time I have served as Contract Surgeon. I wish to remain in the Servise, but prefer going in a Regt. Would you grant me a commission in some Regt now forming or to fill some vacancy in an old Regt. Respectfully yours, Dr. E. T. Taylor, Reference Officials of Jones Co.
