Aug 25th 1864 Richmond Wash Co Iowa Wm M Stone, Governor of Iowa Dear Sir My Husband is in the U.S. Service now only two years & wishes to reenlist provided he can be transferred from where he now is to another Iowa Regt. He went out in Co C. 19th Iowa got sick & was transferred to Veteran Reserve Corp in Co, H 20th Regt, at Pt. Lookout M.D. He wants to get into Iowa 1st Cavalry Have you any power to excuse transfers If so I would be glad to have him so transferred if possible I make this request at his urgent solicitation Can you do anything for him or give me any information how it can be done Address me as above his name is William Lee (Wm Lee,) Yours truly Margaret Lee
