58 Cold Harbor, Va - Wednesday June 8/64 The work of building fortifications is progressing rapidly - the whole brigade being at work on the fort in our immediate front. Wm Herbst of Company E was killed and Josiah Lehman of Company C, wounded by sharp shooters Thursday 9th The wagon trains were ordered to go to the White House landing. Jacob R. Eidel of Co. "B" was wounded. Friday, June 10th It is rumored that the rebels are on their way to Pennsylvania, and that it is probable the 9th Corps may be sent in that direction, at any rate some movement seems to be imminent. I have for sometime been troubled with boils, hence am feeling very badly today.
