91 Front of Petersburg, Va Monday Augt 8th 1864 The Colonel's Clerk, Theo. Faber, the regimental Bugler and a number of the officers having imbibed too freely of Commissary Whisky were drunk. Lieut. Col. Overton and Adjutant Foster being away Captain Huntzinger held dress parade, with Lieutenant Gechter, of Co. H acting Adjutant. Tuesday 9th A very heavy explosion occurred at City Point, which was heard very plainly about 11 o'clock - said to have been an ordinance boat - particulars have not been received.
