103 Near the Yellow Tavern, Va. Monday Augt. 22nd 1864 Col. B.C. Christ, who was absent wounded, returned to the Brigade this afternoon. The 46th New York relieved us about 12 oclock today, our picket were advanced this morning. Tuesday 23d Several of the boys were put under arrest for discharging their guns. Orders have been issued to build big fires tonight after dark. Wednesday 24th The weather is very hot today. Brigade inspection this morning. Thursday 25th At 3 oclock P.M. we moved off to the left flank, to support the 2nd Corps, but did not arive in time, the battle being over - 2nd Corps lost heavily and wer driven back. Rained.
