171 Fort McGilvery, Va. Friday, Jan'y 20th 1865 In charge of the Picket line in from of the 1st Michigan and our regiments. Two Rebel soldiers and two negroes came into our lines to day and gave themselves up. Very heavy shelling; one shell passed through Captain Brumm's tent and also three tents of Company "F", fortunately no one was hurt. Saturday 21 Rained and hailed. Sunday 22 Solomon Rhoads and Howard Potts, of Company "B", and Henry Schraffler, of Company "H" were discharged on Surgeon Certificate Ordered from Goodyear Co. Philadelphia, Pa., 1 Pr. Gloves @ $2 50
