Winfield Iowa,
Sunday eve, 4th Dec, 1864.
I have been hearding sheepses all day and of course I cannot tell you where the Preacher found his text to speak from to day I wanted to attend church very much to day but could not without letting the sheep go hungry. They were going to dedicate a church to day- about six miles from here,- How did I come to be hearding sheep? since last writing I bought a small lot of 223 of the best sheep that I could find. I can now sell them for $250,00 more than I paid for them. 
Last week I was at rough carpenter work, such as covering a sheep shed with straw, setting posts in the ground &c, &c,

Do not look for me until you have further orders as I will try and inform you before I start for the Suc. State, I am dear Tillie just as I use to was
