furlough Just came back yesterday they say there was lots of snow up where they were - I dont make any calculations now on getting a sleighride this Winter - I dont intend to try to get an other furlough before April or May - think by that time it will be my turn again, I got a letter from Curgus last Friday - he says there is not much prospect of his getting a furlough soon - Says he couldent go very well if he had one till the Paymaster visits them - it seems that officers get straped sometimes as well as the privates - We havent been paid since the 1" of September - lots of the boys havent had any money for three months - I have been fortunate enough to have a little spending money all the time though - The old doctor gave me five dollars a few days ago for helping him make out his report, and the County Clerk of Washington Co gave me five for making out a list of all the Colored Recruits who had gone from
