futur happiness. we are all selfish creturs and no wonder we dont want you to get married and go away. O how I would like to be there; I always had a great desire to see you married, but "such is life" as the preacher said. cant you wait untill I come home. I know if you go away out to Iowa I will never get to see you again you must send me half a dozzen Photos to make up for not seeing you, are you going to have any peoples at the wedding? what are you going to get new? and every thing else you must tell me? dont you want me to get you [sufim?] there is an Auction going on in town. guess I will go tonight. I am very much obliged for that money and postage you were so kind to send me; I need some muslin guess I will invest it in that. I have become very economical and saving haven't bought but three stick of candy since I left Ill I long to see that little orphan you sent for me. but I am at a loss to know what to do with it. if I was rich now I would educate it, but unfortunately I can't educate myself, so the poor little thing will have to grow up in ignorance I am afraid. I have a pain in my side (not under my apron) and will quit for awhle and study up some more nonsense. I had almost forgoten to tell you they have found oil here. they have not pumped any yet. can't tell untill after they pump awhile whether it is in paying quantities or not every person is asking $100, per acre for their land. spect they will ask $200, or 300, next. I wouldent care if I had a few acres if it is all hills, and hollows I have three cents in silver I believe I will put it in land or oil
