May 7th 1865 My Dear Tillie May The Good Man bless "thee & Thine" forever & ever amen. Committed matrimony have you, Entered that bourne from whence no girl ever returns, Gone to house keeping too with its eternal round of never ending perplexities, & may be pleasures Hope your life will glide smoothly along down the streak of time, without any "breakers" or squalls to interrupt the passage, & may you & him be landed on the sunny banks of sweet deliverance That last is original mind you [Vertically, from bottom left:] birds books & flowers, & will make the place as attractive as in the olden time I presume, It was unkind in "Auntie" [Mary?] to try to scandal me by that insinuation in your letter when that happens you will know it, as for Mrs Day I cannot vouch for the truth of it as I haint posted, Please give my right hand to Mr Clark & bring him to make us a visit before long I have a sister in law that is related to him I presume so we can claim relationship our folks all send their best wishes and congratulations. write soon, and I will try to be punctual as ever With much love I remain yours ever Sade W
