May 22nd nine O'clock at night & all in bed but Bell and Isabell as Martin Smith calls me, dont you think we had Martin here from Yesterday morning untill after Dinner today. he lookes as Hairy, and talk as whiny as Ever - he came yesterday when we were almost ready to start to Snodgrasses to Church, so we left Martin with Papa & Mother, & told him if Hoges were there to take Libbie home, we would be back by one Oclock, but I privately gave Mother to understand that we would'nt be home untill Evening  they were all there. & we went home with them, I tried to Coax Abner & Maria to come & see Martin while we went to thier House, but they said they did'nt care about seeing him, but tried to make me come home, & to Clap the Climax. this old Dum Duchman Arnest, Would go long to Abners and we wanted him to come home, the Darned old thing, I told him. he was to go home & he said "it makes no difference mit me where I goes"
