& Sugar Cakes, Currant & Rhubarb pie, & quit for that day, Tuesday morning after an unusually Early breakfast, papa started to town for John & Bro Tombaugh while Bell & I Ironed. Mag put on Beef to roast & peaches to Stew for Dinner (but meantime papa had gone round & told the neighbors that John would preach here that Evening at three Oclock) well - they had not come in the night train & papa staid for the ten Oc - k train, & still they didnt come. he then came home & went back for the three Oc-k - Train, & no John yet. Jessie - cried when he got back. because he had not brought her preacher along, when three Oclk came. we had quite a respectable congregation & nary preacher, they all staid an hour or so, & gossiped about thier (Upside-down, at head of page:-) ] time we were glad to hear that McCulloughs - we]re [out] in your [County?], must quilt Good by Bell
