Cottage Hill June 7th '65 Brother "Sam" Your good little letter received a Cordial welcome, and I at this late hour of this warm Evening "take my pen in hand to write you a few lines to inform you "that I am Enjoying the like Enviable state of Health" we were at the river yesterday & saw Mr Sam Bradford washing Sheep the old Penna stile, I asked him why he did'nt swim them instead, he said he was going to next year, wasent fixed for doing it that way now, he had about twelve hundred to wash, we have our flock washed & sheared, the fleece from Tillie's pet. weighed 7 1/2 pounds & papa's four pounds, we dont know - (Diagonally, at head of page:-) Thursday Morning June 8th are having a fine shower of rain. this morning & Mother is out putting sweet potatoe plants in the ground - papa making the ridge for her, Bell & Mag Ironing. & Jessie spattering round in the rain
