Have not had a letter from Bell for two months guess all of my friends have forgotten me. Em says she likes teaching very well. Wenona still continues to flourish the same as when we were there, but it holds no charms for Hattie. [Shang Mahanah?] was out to see me, the day Will was shot, his Regt left for Chicago Saturday Eve tell you he was glad to get home, once more, recd a letter from Sam Brown, the other day written in Washington City he had seen George, and said they both expected to meet in Wenona before the 4th of July. I would like to be there then I'll bet the boys will have a gay old time. Lide is in Ohio it seems. I presume George will join her there, aint it glorious thought, to know that this cruel war is over at last & the "boys in blue" are going home. I have been making shirts again just finished two for Will, yesterday, shall make myself some now, have a pretty dress to make too. Will got it for me in Louisville. Howdy Cousin Sam! how does milking go by this time ha! or have you a milk [wagon] does Tillie pull your hair any yet? come down & see us we will give you the best chamber in our shebang and you may have all the blackberries you can eat, there I know that will bring you, beside two or three darkies to wait on you! now aint that quite an inducement
