but there is what you might call good solid sense in his Sermons. When we came back we stopt and took dinner with the Doctor Is two pretty good looking girls there. We talked to them awhile and they played a few tunes on the "Peanner" for our special benefit, think we'll have to make 'em an other call some of these days if we tarry long in Ky. Has been some what Stormy this evening, commenced raining about 4 oclock, dont think the dust will fly so much tomorrow. The Colonel has been out in the country a few miles since last Thursday. he sent me an order about 6 oclock this evening to send him a Lieut and 20 men. I called them up and started them out through the rain. dont know what he is going to do with them. I consider myself a Private yet, but I have a good deal to say and do in runing this "Machine" I dont put on any style at all wear a private's clothes most all the time. Just thought it wouldent pay for me to buy an Officers outfit until I was sure of holding my position I take the Cols sword to Mount Guard in the morning then get one of the officer of the Guard or Officer of the Day to go on Dress Parade in the evening. We do every thing up here in accordance with "Regulations"
