Burlington, IA April 4, 1943, Sun 7 a.m. My Dearest Daddy: It is a beautiful morning and the sun shinning bright. I believe it is way much warmer out. I rec'd your letter yesterday, with the check enclosed and thanks so much. I will deduct the amount on the stub for your Ins. check. Blanche's father passed away yesterday morning. She just had her first appointment under the dryer and they called her and told her he had gone. She was pretty broken up over it. She left right away. She had her day booked full and we were in a mess for quite a while and then Wilma came down about noon and helped the rest of the day. That was sure a life saver. Don't know when she will be back. We are pretty busy with permanent waves now. Will be until after Easter I suppose. Ruthie finally finished the basement last night. It looks real good. We are going to do the upstairs next. I guess she will stay with me until it is finished. I hope so anyway, I am afraid it will take a couple of weeks anyway, I want to be through by the time you get here, so we won't have anything to do but play. I didn't get to the bank again
